What causes indoor air pollution?

Many everyday products may cause poor indoor air quality in your Ravenna home.

This includes:

  • Chemicals in [carpet, furniture and window treatments that give off fumes
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Paint
  • Personal care products
  • Air fresheners and candles

Though they are usually more efficient, newer homes don’t ventilate the way older residences do. Secure weather stripping and storm doors keep indoor air in and outdoor air out. This provides increased energy savings, but the decreased exchange of outdoor and indoor air can trigger pollutants increasing indoors.

In these circumstances, a whole-house ventilation system is advised. Ventilation systems swap out dirty indoor air for more breathable exterior air without giving up energy savings.
